When Alex Rodriguez, arguably the best players in the game, recently fessed up to his steroid use, I thought to myself, “This is never going to end.” Not until all of the major leagues starting testing blood and get Human Growth Hormone out of the games. Until that day, all of the accomplishments from the past two, or even three, decades are suspect. It doesn’t matter who we’re talking about here.
Armstrong, Griffey, LeBron, Kobe? You have to be suspect of all of these guys because the leagues don’t test for HGH.

That’s why I don’t get why people were surprised about A-Roid.
Have you seen the size of that guy? Shortstops shouldn’t be that big: and still be able to flash the leather: and hit 50 homers in a season.
It’s not physically possible: without the help of steroids, or HGH, or whatever you want to call the stuff.
These guys know what they’re doing. They’re playing for money, or scholarships at the amateur level, not the love of the game. And they’re going to do whatever they have to do to get that money.

Even the best, most physically gifted players in the world like A-Rod will do it. Because if they’re not driven by money, they’re driven by their Hall of Fame egos. They’re not just happy with being elite, they want to be the greatest ever: and quadruple their hat size in the process.
Look at Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, Sammy Sosa, Roger Clemens.
These guys know what they’re doing: and they’re going to do it until the day they get caught because the payday is so ridiculous.

A-Rod probably said it best this week when he said:

“I knew we weren’t taking Tic-Tacs.”

Funny thing is, the stuff is as easy to get as Tic-Tacs in some parts of the world.
Don’t believe me, well read this latest piece from the Daily News, which sent a reporter to the Dominican where it took just two minutes and $19 to get A-Rod’s drug of choice.
Oh yeah, and did I mention more than 27 percent of MLB players were born outside the U.S. And the Dominican has had hundreds of players come through.

The rest of our athletes? Well, it’s much, much more difficult for American-born players to get the juice. Either they head to Mexico the next time they play in San Diego. Or they pick up a batch online. Yep, on top of being an A-Hole, SI is reporting that Alex Rodriguez tested positive for two anabolic steroids in 2003 — that being the same year he won the American League home run title and the AL MVP award with the Texas Rangers.

Nice. Just when you thought the ‘roids talk was coming to an end, another baseball icon bites the dust. And until Major League Baseball starts testing for HGH, you can bet this isn’t the last big name we’re going to see connected to performance enhancers. Heck, half of us here at The Bias are ‘roid ragin’ these days. Gotta catch up to the rest of those big-headed sluggers in the blogosphere.
