This poor cheerleader at San Luis Obispo High School in Calif., was drilled from behind by a flag-wielding football player prior to tonight’s game.
On top of the pain, and humiliation that came with the blindside blitz, the video was broadcast repeatedly by the local TV staion. And, of course, we had to share it with y’all.
It’s one of those videos you’ll want to replay a couple of times because the impact was so quick.
To her credit, she dusted herself off and continued to root on her Tigers, who beat Oxnard 28-7 behind that hard-hitting defense of theirs.
Slow-motion replay anyone?
9/19 Update: OXNARD PLAYER SERIOUSLY INJURED, UNDERGOES BRAIN SURGERY
While this particular cheerleader came away unscathed, we’d like to take a moment to recognize the Oxnard player who was seriously injured in Friday’s game.
Senior safety Adrian Padilla suffered a serious concussion and reportedly collapsed on the sideline and had to undergo emergency brain surgery over the weekend.
He is resting at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, Calif., and an account has been set up for donations at Santa Barbara Bank and Trust under the Adrian Padilla Benefit Account.
We here at BallHyped encourage local football fans and alumni on the Central Coast and beyond to donate to Padilla and his family to help aid in the hospital bills and hope for his speedy recovery.
